Allison Olson is the Director, Grantmaking + Community Building for Born This Way Foundation. In this role, Allison leads Born This Way Foundation’s grantmaking programs, including the Kindness in Community Fund, as well as the community-building efforts to develop and steward partnerships with and between grant recipients and other organizations working to support youth mental health. Allison also helps to manage the Youth Advisory Board.
Before joining Born This Way Foundation, Allison was a director at Vital Impact (formerly Arabella Advisors), a philanthropic consulting firm. At Vital Impact, she specialized in supporting the firm’s corporate clients advising on philanthropic strategies related to a range of social issues including global health, economic opportunity, education, and conservation. Prior to her time at Arabella, Allison was on the global corporate social responsibility team at Gartner, where she managed an international grant-making strategy, identified and managed philanthropic partnerships, supported the expansion of diversity and inclusion initiatives, and oversaw global volunteer programming for more than 15,000 employees in over 60 countries. She has a BS in justice studies and a BBA in technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship from James Madison University.
Allison is originally from Massachusetts, spent 10 years working and living in Washington, D.C., and now lives in North Carolina with her husband and children.
