As communities everywhere navigate multiple, overlapping crises, young people have stated clearly their need for proactive mental health support. In partnership with Cotton On Foundation, Born This Way Foundation is dedicating up to $1,500,000 USD in KiC Fund grants to fund free, accessible, community-informed resources to support youth mental health. Born This Way Foundation and Cotton On Foundation request nominations from young people themselves of tax-exempt organizations, non-profits, NGOs and similar types of organizations based in the above listed nine countries that are focused on mental wellness and:
- are informed and/or led by young people,
- are rooted in practices of community, inclusion, and equity at all levels, and
- provide free and accessible mental health resources.
Born This Way Foundation aims to provide funding in the spirit of partnership and through a process that is as simple and impactful as possible. As such, the Foundation will vet nominated organizations and a shortlist of nominated organizations will be identified by our Advisory Board, a global group of young people ages 15-24. Shortlisted organizations will then be invited to submit a streamlined grant proposal summarizing how they would use the funds. Grant sizes will be based on the proposals submitted, up to $150,000 USD per organization.
How To Nominate:
Our hope is for our work to always be led and informed by youth perspectives first. We’re especially eager to receive nominations from young people between 15-24 years old about the local mental health organizations making a difference in their communities, and we will place greater weight on the nominations they submit. Please submit organizations via THIS GOOGLE FORM (the “Nomination Form”).
Nominations are due by 12 PM PST on October 17, 2023.
